SPARTA – Fern Glenn, 95, of Sparta, passed away at 1:50 AM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Illinois.

Fern was born in Percy, Illinois, on October 6, 1928, the daughter of Henry W. and Iva Bigham Brenning. She married James I. Glenn on February 21, 1948, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2009. She was retired from Spartan Printing, Sparta, Illinois. Fern was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sparta.

Fern is survived by two daughters, Connie (Richard) Wolter of Evansville, IL and Bonnie (Dale) Dehne of Red Bud, IL; grandchildren, David (Lisa) Dehne, Tracy (Jason) Poenitske, Kathy (Matt) Tilla, Don (Cathleen) Dehne, John (Jill) Dehne, Michele (Kevin) Jokerst, Glenn (Kristin) Wolter, and Mike (Amy) Wolter; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Fern was also preceded in death by her Parents; 4 brothers, Henry, Everett, Albert and Henry W.; and one sister, Marie Helfers.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Rev. Carl Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sparta, on Friday, where friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am until 10 am. Memorials may be given St. John's Lutheran Church, Sparta, or Sparta Senior Center.
