STEELEVILLE – Evelyn Nowak, 94, of Steeleville, passed away at 9:05 pm, Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Three Springs Lodge, Chester.

Evelyn was born in Campbell Hill, Illinois, on September 10, 1925, the daughter of Alfred and Hulda Witbart Rickenberg.  She married Henry J. Nowak in Toledo, Ohio, on June 24, 1950.  He preceded her in death on May 20, 1971.  She worked in Food Service.  Evelyn was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill; Ladies Aid at St. Peter's and Steeleville Senior Site.  She enjoyed Bingo at the Senior Site and helping prepare for church picnic.

Evelyn is survived by daughter, Linda Joy Nowak of Chicago, IL; son, Gregory Allen Nowak of Chicago, IL; and sister-in-law, Rudell Rickenberg of Steeleville.

Evelyn was also preceded in death by her Parents; two brothers, Norman and Harold Rickenberg.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, with Minister Deb Rathert officiating.  Burial will follow at Chester Evergreen Cemetery, Chester, Illinois.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 10 am until 11:30 am Saturday.  Memorials may be given to the Memorial Fund at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill.
