Obituary
STEELEVILLE – Evelyn R. Brockmeyer, 96, of Steeleville, passed away at 3:20 am, Monday, January 22, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Evelyn was born in Steeleville, on March 6, 1921, the daughter of William C. and Ruth Elsey Wente. She married Fritz E. Brockmeyer on August 29, 1942 at Potosie, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1983. She was retired from Steeleville Schools in the Cafeteria. Evelyn was a member of the Steeleville United Methodist Church; the B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post #480, Steeleville; and the United Methodist Women.
Evelyn is survived by her children; Susan Webster of Ellicott City, MD, Dwight Brockmeyer of Ava, and Teresa (Wayne) Shannon of Sesser, Deborah Jay, of Steeleville, grandchildren; Sean A. (Jenn) Webster, Michael G. (Helen) Webster, Ryan M. (Bethany) Webster, Jeni A. (Toby) Ellner, Christy (Chuck) Ayars and Kathryn (Todd) Schoenbaechler; and great grandchildren, Eli, Jude, Cameron, Avery, Caitlin, Elyssa, Thomas, Jack, Jackson, Eliza, Ethan, Camden, and Rosalind.
Evelyn was also preceded in death by her Parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Steeleville United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. David Melvin officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Steeleville United Methodist Church, Steeleville, where friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm Thursday and on Friday from 8 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to the Steeleville United Methodist Church or the Steeleville Public Library. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
