CARBONDALE - Eugene "Gene" H. Jones, 50, of Carbondale, lost his battle with cancer at 8:58 am July 7, 2015 at the home of his niece, Melissa Brock in Cutler, IL. Gene was born on July 21, 1964 in Decatur, IL, the son of Nathan and Doris (Smith) Jones I. Gene is survived by his mother, Doris Jones of Mt. Carmel, IL; 3 sisters: Connie Shafer, Citrus Spring, FL, Collien Amos, Keensburg, IL, Collette Thompson, Cutler, IL; 3 brothers: Nathan Jones II, Myrtle Beach, SC, Lewis Jones I, Keensburg, IL and Jeff Jones, Keensburg, IL; Niece, Melissa (Gayland) Brock, Cutler, IL; Great Niece and Nephew: Alisha & Kalvin Brock, plus many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral Services will be at 2:00PM Saturday July 11, 2015 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, IL with Rev. Mike Higgerson, officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home, where friends may call from noon to 2:00PM. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
