TILDEN – Ethel Rose Duncan, age 92, of Tilden, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 8:10 pm, surrounded by her family.

Rose was born on January 7, 1931, in Cypress, IL, the daughter of Charles J. and Lillian (Laird) Burnett. She married Rev. Jesse Duncan on March 21, 1953, in Wood River, IL. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2008. Rose worked side by side with her husband, as a pastor's wife, complementing his ministry. She was a member of Percy Assembly of God, where she worshiped her Lord and enjoyed sweet fellowship. Rose was a beloved sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pleasure in her independence until the very end, going ziplining in her 80's and being baptized in the Jordan River in Israel at the age of 87. Rose enjoyed her home, gardening, being "Grandma Rose," and being with her "besties" shopping or eating lunch at Route 4. The past few years she enjoyed participating each month with a group of women at the Baptist Church in Tilden. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy will continue to live on.

Rose is survived by her children: Rev. Steve (Janice) Duncan of Percy, IL, Rev. Greg (Mary) Duncan of Mt. Juliet, TN, Sherry (Ron) Goddard of Marion, KY, Rev. Debra (Mark) Dexter of Knoxville, IL, Tammy (Russell) Little of Alton, IL; her 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, her sisters: Juanita Smithson of Fenton, MO and Lillian Dobelbower of Bethalto, IL.

Rose was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 221 Stevenson Dr, Sparta, IL, with Rev. Stephen Duncan officiating. Burial service will follow at Tilden Cemetery, Tilden, IL with Rev. Greg Duncan officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 -1:00 pm, at the church.
