CHESTER – Esther D. Wilson, 93, of Chester, passed away at 10:21 PM, Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the Sparta Community Hospital.

Esther was born on October 12, 1924, in Degongia Township, Jackson County, Illinois, the daughter of August G and Dorthea (Brueggemann) Dierks. She married Earl D. Wilson on October 24, 1951, at West Point, Illinois and they shared 60 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 12, 2011. Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker, and a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville.

She is survived by 2 children; Kevin (Lisa) Wilson, of Steeleville, and Cheryl Salger, of Willisville, 2 grandsons; Jeff (Samantha) Wilson, and Christopher Wilson, and 1 great grandson; Max Oliver Wilson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and 1 son-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, with Rev. S. Blake Duncan and Julie Posth, Parrish Ministry Assistant officiating, and burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held on Monday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville where friends may call from 4 to 8 PM, and then on Tuesday morning from 7:30 to 9, and then from 10 to 11 at the church. Memorials may be made to the Peace Lutheran Memorial Fund.
