SPARTA, Erma Idella Dietz, 103, of Sparta, passed away at 9:18 PM Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Randolph County Care Center in Sparta, Illinois. She was born February 18, 1912 in Cutler, Illinois the daughter of William Wiley and Pearl (Brown) McClure. Erma married Ernest W. Dietz on January 20, 1935 at Cutler, IL. He passed away on February 16, 1978. Erma was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sparta, IL, a member of the Plum Creek Unit of Homemakers Extension Association and a Past Matron of Eastern Star of Marissa. She is survived by her daughters: Elaine (James) Hargis and Willa Dietz, both or Sparta; Grandchildren: Robert (Janet) Hargis, Portland, Oregon, David (Jean) Hargis, Sparta, Mary Jo Henry, Columbia, MO, and Richard (Lisa) Hargis, Highland, IL; Great Grandchildren: Christopher, Brian and Jennifer Hargis, Mindy (Chad) Sturtz, Scott and Amy Hargis, Lindsay (Matt) Steely, Paul (Sharla) Juenger, and Jay and Emilee Hargis; Great Great Grandchildren: Hanna and Landon Steely, Scarlet and Stella Juenger and Charlotte and Idella Sturtz. Erma is also survived by a sister, Ruby McClure at Manor of Craig Farm, Chester, IL and many nieces and nephews. Erma is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Hazel Williamson and Virginia Schwebel and brother: Bernard McClure. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, Sparta, IL with Rev. Gary L. Feldman and Rev. Marvin "Bud" Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, IL. Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church, Sparta, where friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and then on Friday from 9am to 11am. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Randolph County Care Center.
