JOHNSTON CITY – Emma L. Holderfield, 91, of Johnston City, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Stonebridge Nursing & Rehab Center, Benton, IL.

Emma was born January 13, 1931, in Jackson County, IL, to William B. and Minnie Saul Phelps. She married Rev. Raymond A. Holderfield, Sr, on September 10, 1951, in Piggott, AR, he preceded her in death on November 24, 1996. Emma was a devout Christian, being a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Johnston City, IL since she was 20 years old. She was a retired Latch Key Aid at Johnston City School District and taught Sunday school.

Emma is survived by her children: Barbara Reynolds of Austinburg, OH, Freida Rodgers of Johnston City, IL, Raymond A. Holderfield, Jr, of Johnston City, IL, Chris Holderfield of Pasadena, TX; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, siblings: Clara Broadway of Murphysboro, IL, Myrtle Phelps of California, and sister-in-law, Donna Phelps, of Jacob, IL.

Emma is also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two granddaughters and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Michael Glasco and Rev. Brandon Abernathy officiating. Burial to follow at Glenn Cemetery, Jacob. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends and family may call from 10 - 1 pm.
