STEELEVILLE, Elsie A Salger, 92, of Steeleville, passed away at 2:55 A.M. Thursday, August 26, 2010, at St. Ann's Healthcare Center in Chester, IL. She was born July 31, 1918 in Steeleville, Illinois the daughter of William C. Wente and Ruth (Elsey) Wente. Elsie married Herbert M. Salger on October 12, 1940 in Bardwell, KY. Herbert passed away on April 20, 2007. She is survived by one brother: Merle Wente of Steeleville, IL; two sisters: Mrs. Evelyn Brockmeyer of Steeleville, IL, Helen Hurley of Bellerie, MI; two sister-in-laws: Clara Wente of O'Fallon, MO, Doris Salger of Steeleville, IL; fifteen nieces and nephews: Susan Webster, Dwight Brockmeyer, Teresa Shannon, Deborah Jay, Kathleen Trumbel, Kenneth Hurley, Donald Wente, Jr., Trisha Cox, Karen Lusch, Judy Fugate, Brad Fugate, Debby Grabanski, Patricia Gemmill, James Wente, and David Wente. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Donald Wente. She was a Retired Secretary for the Steeleville Community School District, a member of Steeleville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at United Methodist Church in Steeleville. Rev. Matthew A. Jaiah will be officiating. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Friday from 5-8 PM and then on Saturday from 7:30 to 9am and then from 10 to 11 am at the church.
