STEELEVILLE – Elizabeth "Betty" Middendorf, 76, of Steeleville passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the St. Louis University Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Elizabeth was born on October 24, 1942, in Pueblo, Colorado, to daughter of John J. Caviness, and Alberta J (Gross) Davis. Betty married Robert H. Middendorf, on January 4, 1975, in Belleville, and they shared 28 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 8, 2004. Betty was a retired cook from the Lollies Café in Percy, and was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville.
Betty is survived by her children; Amy Middendorf, of Pinckneyville, Aaron (Melissa) Middendorf, of Steeleville, Patricia (Michael) Reynolds-Curtner, of Steeleville, Roger (Anna) Zimmer II, of Steeleville, David Zimmer, of Steeleville, Jennifer Caldwell, of Steeleville, Richard (Mary) Zimmer, of Chester, Helen Korando, of Steeleville, 3 step-children; Ora (Billie) Lucas, of Belleville, Michael Middendorf, of Georgia, Robert Middendorf, of Fayetteville, Illinois, 24 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters; Alice James, of Percy, Cathy (Roger) Cole, of Steeleville, Barbara Caviness-Dietrick, of Vancouver, Washington.
Mrs. Middendorf was preceded in death by her mother and step-father; Carl and Alberta Davis, father and step-mother; John and Peggy Caviness, 1 brother; Carl E. Davis, Jr., 1 grandson; Christopher Beck, son-in-law; Tommie Reynolds, sister; Carol Driver.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Rev. William F. Engfehr, III, officiating, burial will follow in the Percy Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Saturday from 7:30 AM until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scout Troop #348, Steeleville, or the Steeleville High School Bowling Team.
