AVA, Eleanor Edgar, 98, of Ava, passed away at 2:24 A.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, IL. Eleanor was born July 23, 1912 in Sato, Illinois the daughter of William E. LePere and Edna (Stout) LePere. Eleanor married John M. Edgar on September 5, 1934 in Benton, IL. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1989. Eleanor was homemaker and an avid quilter of hand pieced and sewn quilts. She was a member of the Denmark Baptist Church, Cutler, where she was a regular attender with her family for over 75 years. She was the Sunday School youth Superintendent, a member of the Women's Missions Society, she taught Sunday School and Bible School. Eleanor is survived by four children, John Cecil and Roberta Edgar of Ava, Gilbert and Vivian Edgar of Ava, Randall and Margaret Edgar of Ava and Carolyn E. O'Dell of Fairfax, VA; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and two brothers, Leland LePere of Rockford, IL and Fred LePere of Ava. Eleanor was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Eldon, Lester, Wilbur and Wendell LePere; sister: Lois Gibboney and Joyce Reuscher; and son-in-law: Gerald J. O'Dell. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Marty DeRoche officiating. Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Saturday from 5 to 8 pm and on Sunday from 7:30 am until 2:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Denmark Baptist Church.
