Obituary
AVA – Eldred Hornbostel, 71, passed away at 4:15 pm, Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at St. Luke's in Saint Louis, MO.
Eldred was born on May 18, 1946, in Campbell Hill, Illinois, the son of Herman H and Anna D. Wachsnicht Hornbostel. He retired from World Color Press in Sparta, and was a farmer. Eldred was an Army Veteran of Vietnam, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Point; American Legion Post #1096 in Campbell Hill, Red Bud, and St Louis; VFW Post 6632; Paraplegic Group; John Cochran VAMC; and attended Diesel Mechanic School in Kansas City, MO.
Eldred is survived by his fiancé Sandy Merlenbach; sister Betty (David) Lappe. He was also a father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and a good friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, and one nephew.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, July 12 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Point, Illinois, with Rev. Sean R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, West Point, Military grave side services by American Legion Post #1096. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville where friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church.
