ROCKWOOD - Elda L. Saul, 90, of Rockwood, IL, passed away at 8:12 am, Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Elda was born in Ava, Illinois on November 9, 1921 the daughter of George D. and Sophia A. Weissgerber Kessel. She married Louis R. Saul on September 5, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1985. Elda was of the Pentecostal faith and was retired from Menard Penitentiary in Chester, IL. Elda is survived by a brother-in-law, Oakley Gale of Ava; one nephew, Albert (Julie) Gale of Murphysboro; three great nieces, Lerae Edwards of Ava, Erin (Tyler) Camfield of DeSoto, IL, and Ashley Gale of Murphysboro; two great great nephews, Keatton Edwards of Ava and Jack Camfield of DeSoto, IL. Elda was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and one brother. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with Rev. James Easton officiating. Burial will follow in Glenn Cemetery in Rockwood. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 9 to 11 am Saturday. Memorials may be given to Glenn Cemetery.
