Edgar was born in Bremen, Illinois, on August 17, 1928, the son of Albert and Alma Diercks Wilson.  He married Helen M. Ehlers on December 6, 1952 in Campbell Hill.  She preceded him in death on March 25, 2017.  He was retired from World Color Press and WalMart at Chester.  Edgar was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville; B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville; and Kaskaskia V.F.W. Post #3553 of Chester.

Edgar is survived by three sons, Jim (Denise) Wilson of Chester, Eddie (Sandy) Wilson of Sparta, and Rodney (Rhonda) Wilson of Steeleville; grandchildren, Jeremy Wilson (Kraiten Franklin), Desirae Wilson (Jerry Ball), Sherry (Shawn) Moore, Nick Wilson, Brandon Wilson (Fiancee, Erin Landgraf), Heather (Greg) Schilling, Ryan Wilson, Reid Wilson, and Rachel Wilson; great grandchildren, Haley and Hayden Haslett, Elizabeth Wilson, Lyla and Leo Wilson and Eli Schilling; sisters, Alberta Ruebke of Percy, Maydell Ernsting of Iverness, FL and Darlene Lohman of Red Bud.

Edgar was also preceded in death by his Parents; three brothers, Earl, Melvin and Delbert; and one granddaughter, Reanna Wilson.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 6, 2017 at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating.  Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday and on Friday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.  Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or Family Hospice.
