STEELEVILLE – Edgar Rahlfs, 79, of Steeleville, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Edgar was born on April 27, 1943 in Reily Lake, IL, the son of Elmer and Verna (Rehmer) Rahlfs.  He married Carol Stegmann at St. John's Lutheran Church in Chester, IL, on April 30, 1966.  Edgar worked at the Captain Mine in Percy until it closed. He then worked at Gilster Mary Lee in Mc Bride, MO and retired from there.

Edgar was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill, and a member of the UMWA Local 1392 in Percy.  He was also an avid SIU-C Basketball Fan.

Edgar is survived by his wife, Carol (nee Stegmann) of Steeleville, Daughters:  Jodie Mehrer, of Chester, Kim (Brian) Mills, of Valley Park, MO and Stacy (Jack) McCormick, of Ellis Grove, IL; Grandchildren; Wade Mehrer, Kara (Ethan) Starkey, Emily Mehrer, Ethan Mills and Jared McCormick.  He is also survived by sister, Darlene Vogel and Niece, Jackie Vogel-Hayes, both of Effingham, IL.

Edgar was preceded in death by parents Elmer and Verna Rahlfs, Sister, Carol Ann, Niece, Theresa and Son-in-law, David Mehrer.

Funereal Service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 1:00PM at the Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville with Rev. Timothy Sims, officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Wine Hill.  Visitation will be at the Funeral Home from 11:00am to 1:00PM on Sunday, August 28, 2022.  Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cemetery Fund and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O.
