STEELEVILLE, Edaine Wedemeyer, 93, of Steeleville, passed away at 8:45 A.M. Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Hawthorne Inn Liberty Village in Marion, IL. Edaine was born December 03, 1915 in Murphysboro, Illinois the daughter of Frank M. Cripps and Amy (Morgan) Cripps. She married Ernest Wedemeyer on February 9, 1941 in Campbell Hill, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1995. Edaine was a retired teacher; retired assistant Regional Superintendent of Education for Randolph County ; retired health and handicapped coordinator for Western Egyptian Head Start. She taught school at Shiloh, Willisville and Steeleville. Edaine had a B.S. and M.S. from SIUC. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran church in Steeleville; St. Mark's Priscilla Club; L.W.M.L.; Mississippi Valley Art Guild-Beta Delta of Delta Kappa Gamma, a charter member and past president there; I.E.A. and N.E.A. She was honored by the Council of 100 S.I.U. for service in education. She is survived by two sisters, Mildred Rowden of Murphysboro, IL, and Bonnie Soland of Sun City, FL; and many special nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Jim and Frank Cripps. Funeral services will be held Sunday April 19, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Campbell Hill. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Saturday and on Sunday from 7:30 am until Noon, then from 1 to 2 pm Sunday at the church.
