Obituary

STEELEVILLE – E. James Beattie, 94, of Steeleville, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at his home in Steeleville, IL.

James was born November 14, 1926 in Sparta, IL, to Essie Smith Beattie.  He married Brenda Meyerhoff on July 2, 1984 in Colorado.  She preceded him in death on September 10, 2007.  James was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was retired from REA, Steeleville, IL, and was a member of Steeleville United Methodist Church and Steeleville Eagles Aerie #3960, Steeleville, IL.

James is survived by his son, Timothy Beattie of Sparta, IL and daughter-in-law Gail Beattie of Pinckneyville, IL, grandchildren; Justin Beattie, Jimmy (Meghan) Beattie, Shelby Beattie, great grandchildren; Justin James Beattie and Jordan Walker.

James was also preceded in death by his parents and one son Jim Beattie.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 19, 2021 at Steeleville United Methodist Church, Steeleville, IL with Reverend James Tinzmann officiating.  Burial to follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, where friends may call from 2 to 8 pm, Sunday, April 18, 2021, and Monday, from 10 – 11 am at the church.  Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project and can be mailed to Wilson Funeral Home, P.O.
