JACOB - Dorothy L. Thompson, 93, of Jacob, passed away at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester. Dorothy was born in Gale, Illinois on October 30, 1919, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Emma Ann Foutch McNelly. She married Rollen Thompson, he preceded her in death on October 21, 1971. She was a retired and was a Homemaker. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Carol Phelps of Rockwood, IL and Linda Calandro of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Harmony Padgett of Arlington, TX, Nacole Calandro of Portland, OR, Caleb Calandro of Kansas City, MO, Kelsey Calandro of New York, NY, Callie Calandro of Kansas City, MO, Melissa Mosby of Rockwood, IL and Beth Phelps of Chester, IL; five great grandchildren, Mason, Emmet, Caleb Joe, Joshua and Rosie; and three half sisters, Shirley Sanders of Centralia, IL, Beatrice Kellman of Florida and Wilma McNelly of Alabama. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Mike Fogerson officiating. Burial will follow in Glenn Cemetery, Rockwood, IL. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Sunday and on Monday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
