Obituary

MURPHYSBORO – Dorothy W. Stroud, 98, of Murphysboro, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, at DuQuoin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, DuQuoin, Illinois.

Dorothy was born in Ava, Illinois, on July 22, 1924, the daughter of Howard W. and Ethel Mae (Ward) Qualls. She married Roscoe Reiman, and he preceded her in death, she then married Hilmer Dean Stroud on April 20, 1946, in Mayfield, KY, he passed on December 20, 2011. Dorothy worked at the Jacket Factory in Murphysboro and was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church, Murphysboro.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Driskell of Murphysboro, IL, her son, Ervin Stroud of Murphysboro, IL, grandchildren: Brian Driskell, Shane (Casey) Stroud, Sheila (Keith) Stokes, Lynn (Donnie) Dirden; great grandchildren: Britney (Kyle) Spradling, Kelsey Driskell, Zach Stokes, Ashley (Dylan) Stokes, Cassie Stroud, Colt Stroud, Shannon Stroud, Jessie Dirden, Gatlin Stroud; great great grandchildren: RaeLyn Bastien, Kade Spradling; and her sister, Vera (Jim) Rogers of Marion, IL.

Dorothy is also preceded in death by her parents, three infant sisters, a sister, Betty and a brother, Bill Qualls.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 11:30 am, at Elm Street Baptist Church, Murphysboro, with Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Murdale Garden of Memory, Murphysboro. Friends may call from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
