AVA – Dorothy M. LePere, 95, of Ava passed away at 9:08 PM, Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at her home in Ava.
Dorothy was born on December 8, 1922, in Jackson County, the daughter of George and Ella (Meininger) Callais. She married Fred LePere on May 14, 1946 in Murphysboro, and they shared 66 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 18, 2012. Mrs. LePere was a homemaker, and a member of the Sato Baptist Church, Ava.
She is survived by her children; David (Theresa) LePere, of Roanoke, VA, Father Symeon (Stephen) LePere, of Ava, Donald (Carol) LePere, of Ava, and Celinda (Michael) Wilkening, of Conifer, CO. 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 sister; Pauline (Ernest) Miller, of Murphysboro, and 1 brother; Lamoine (Judy) Callais, of Murphysboro.
Mrs. LePere was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 brothers; Charles and George.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with Rev. Bryon LePere, Rev. William Stoklosa, and Rev. Brad Geary, officiating, burial will follow at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Saturday morning from 7:30 until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the Sato Baptist Church or to the Southern Illinois Bleeding Disorder Community (Hemophilia).
