Dorothy Gordon, age 101, passed away on August 2, 2023. She was born to Henry and Clara Salger, nee Goetting, on May 28, 1922, in Willisville, Illinois. She married Russell Gordon on January 19, 1941, in Perryville, MO. They raised their family in Ava, Illinois. Her husband preceded her in death. Dorothy worked as the head cook for Trico Elementary School for 27 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, Illinois. Dorothy moved to the Kansas City area (15) years ago to be near family. As a Kansas resident, she became an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals, and the KU Jayhawks Basketball teams.

She is survived by her 3 children & spouses: Wayne and Betty Gordon of Olathe, Kansas; Carol and Roger Boswell of Abbeville, Alabama; and Dennis and Jane Gordon of Olathe, Kansas; 5 grandchildren, Kris (Fiancee, Mark) Bibler, Brian (Lynne) Gordon, Joel (Rosemary) Boswell, Jason (Amy) Boswell, and Ellie (Kyle) Zeigler; 8 great- grand children; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dorothy was the long time matriarch of her family. She thrived on visits from her family and participating in many family celebrations. She relished in visits from her friends and her caregivers in the last years of life. Though 101 years old, she maintained her mental acuity to enjoy life around her. We celebrate the life she lived and the joy-filled memories we have of our Mom, Grandma, & Great Grandma.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Timothy Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm Monday, and on Tuesday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.
