STEELEVILLE – Dorothy F. Gemmill, 94, of Steeleville, passed away at 12:14 pm, Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, Illinois.
Dorothy was born in Chester, Illinois, on March 23, 1923, the daughter of Samuel H. and Emma Mary Favier Maduce. She married Edward S. Gemmill on February 8, 1942 at Perryville, MO. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1998. Dorothy was a Homemaker. Dorothy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville and she volunteered at Peace Lutheran Church Food Pantry.
Dorothy is survived by one son, Michael (Patricia) Gemmill of Perryville, MO; one daughter, Joyce (Leonard) Huseman of Campbell Hill; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and nine step great grandchildren; and a special friend, Truman Cashman of Sparta.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her Parents; three sisters; and one brother.
Funeral service will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 7:00 pm, with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating. Private graveside service will be held. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 7 pm. Memorials may be given to Steeleville Senior Site or Peace Lutheran Church.
