STEELEVILLE – Doris E. Salger, 96, of Steeleville passed away at 10:37 PM, Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Three Springs Lodge in Chester.

Doris was born on November 11, 1920 in Steeleville, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Fuhrhop) Brelje. She married Leonard W. Salger on January 27, 1946, in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1998. Mrs. Salger was a homemaker, and a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville. She was also a member of the B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post #480, Steeleville having been past Unit, County, District and Division President, Department Sergeant at Arms, National Page, Department Gold Star Chair and Division, District, County and Unit Chair, volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Drives, the American Cancer Society, and Priscilla Club at St. Mark's.

Doris is survived by children, Jack (Alison) McDaniels of Tulia, TX, Judy Kinder of Willisville, Joe "Fred" (Charlene) McDaniels of Steeleville, Patricia (Michael) Gemmill of Perryville, MO; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was also preceded in death by Parents and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Wilson's Funeral Home, in Steeleville, with Rev. William F. Engfehr, III, officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 6 to 7:30 PM. Burial will be at 12:45 PM, Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. Memorials may be made to Steeleville Senior Site, Shriner Hospital, St. Louis, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
