STEELEVILLE - Doris Karsten, 86, of Steeleville, passed away at 5:03 pm, Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester. Doris was born in Cutler, IL on August 25, 1926, the daughter of Harry and Laura Stevenson Bigham. She married Wilfred J. "Pop" Karsten on September 14, 1949 in Steeleville. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2000. Doris was a homemaker and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville. Doris is survived by three daughters, Janice (Don) Lively of Percy, Sandra Karsten of Steeleville, and Kathy Karsten of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Marcy, Sasha and Lindsay; and five great grandchildren, Nick, Cameron, Mia, Mason and Dexter. Doris was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters. Private funeral services were held per Mrs. Karsten's wishes. Memorials may be given to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
