CHESTER – Dorcas M. Gruber, 81, of Chester, passed away at 8:45 pm, Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in Rockwood, Illinois.

Dorcas was born in Doe Run, Missouri, on July 26, 1940, the daughter of Lawrence and Dorothy Hunn Thurman.  She married Frank J. "Jerry" Gruber, on April 4, 1959, in East St. Louis, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on November 22, 2005.  She was the previous co-owner of Century 21 Golden Key Realty in Chester and Sparta.  Dorcas was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Chester.

Dorcas is survived by three daughters, Pam (Larry) Hanna of Rockwood, IL, Tracy (Rick) Harrington of Ellis Grove, IL, and Kathy Baker of Chester, IL; grandchildren, Larry (Rebecca) Hanna, Jr., Jennifer (Kyle) Colvis, Ricky (Nikki) Davitz, Ty (Jess) Davitz, Ashley Harrington, Megan (Tim) Neal, Ricky (Chelsea) Harrington, Travis Harrington, Chelsea (Matt) McDonough, Duke Helmers, Brittany Baker, Brandon Baker, and Aliceson Baker; 21 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Daniel (Rosemary) Gruber of Belleville; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorcas was also preceded in death by her Parents; one sister, Delores Wuelling; and niece, Donna Kay Thurman.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 10:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville.  Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 4 pm until 7 pm Sunday and on Monday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.   Memorials may be given to Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation, memo: SunRun 2021, Fayth Over Fear and will be accepted at the funeral home or on the website link at https://sunraise/glennon.org/team/363673 .
