NEW ATHENS – Donald D. Schroeder, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, Illinois.

Donald was born on January 23, 1938, in Bremen, IL, the son of Edward H. and Clara (Kingsten) Schroeder. He married Wanda Davis on June 28, 1956, at St. Johns's Lutheran Church, Bremen, IL. Donald was retired from Norfork Southern Railway. He was a member of the Lions Club, New Athens, IL and was of the Lutheran Faith.

Donald is survived by his wife, Wanda Schroeder of New Athens, IL, his children: Edward L. (Kim) Schroeder of Belleville, IL, Gregory G. (Cheryl) Schroeder of Eagle Lake, FL; his grandchildren: Nicole, Lauren, Ben Jill; his great grandchildren, Gabe and Oscar.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, Ron, and a brother, Lee.

Donald's wishes were for cremation and a graveside service will be at a later date.  Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Bremen, IL, and can mailed in c/o Wilson's Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
