VERGENNES – Donald W. Crawford, 87, of Vergennes, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.

Donald was born October 17, 1938, in Jackson County, IL, to W. Curtis and Irene (Lively) Crawford. He married Juanita P. Hiser Bell on April 24, 1965, in Murphysboro, IL. She preceded him in death on April 3, 1997. Donald had retired from Consolidated Coal Mines and was a member of UMWA Local #1545.

Donald is survived by his children: Wanda (Jan) Phillips of Elkville, IL, Donald Bell of Vergennes, IL, daughter-in-law Sheri Bell of Vergennes, IL; his 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and his sister, Mary Light of Elkville, IL.

Donald was also preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Jim and Pressly, and his sister, Lela Goetz.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, 11:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, IL, with Pastor Kathy Medlin officiating. Burial to follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, IL. Visitation will be Sunday evening, December 28, 2025, where friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and on Monday from 7:30 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
