CAMPBELL HILL – Donald W. Beckman, 70, of Campbell Hill, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017, at his home in Campbell Hill.
Donald was born on March 29, 1947, in Campbell Hill, the son of Wilbert H. and Dorothy (Doetch) Beckman. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Debra L. Darnstaedt, on May 19, 1973, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob.
Donald was a retired Civil Engineer from the USDA, and retired truck driver from Gilster-Mary Lee, and was a retired farmer. He formerly was the photographer for several weddings, and he enjoyed taking photos very much. He also enjoyed farming, and watching the weather channel, and he loved to spend time with his children and his grandchildren. Donald was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, and he held various church offices. He was also a member of the Campbell Hill American Legion Post #1096, and the Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553, in Chester.
Donald is survived by his wife; Debra L. Beckman, Campbell Hill, 5 children; Sabrina (Jonathon) Jeremiah; Steeleville, Tiffany (Keith) Dailey, Steeleville, Thomas (Danielle) Beckman, Ava, Tyler (Sarah) Beckman, Ava, Jonathan (Casey) Beckman, Percy. Grandchildren; Juliana and Jenny Lynn Jeremiah, Brantley and Gabriella Beckman, Dean Beckman, Elijah, Briar, and Titus Beckman. Don is also survived by his mother; Dorothy Beckman, Campbell Hill, 1 brother; Bruce (Jean) Beckman, Victor, Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, 1 brother; Clay, and 1 son, Andrew.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, April 3, 2017, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, with Rev. Alan Kornacki officiating, and burial will follow at the St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Monday morning from 7:30 to 9 and then from 10 to 11 AM, at the church. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter General Fund.
