AVA – Dennis E. Zimmerman, 67, of Ava, passed away at 4:20 pm, Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Herrin Hospital, Herrin, Illinois.

Dennis was born in Anna, Illinois, on February 23, 1955, the son of Lanny E. and Betty J. Davis Zimmerman.  He married Selma Lou Smith on July 3, 1992 in Murphysboro, Illinois.  Dennis was retired from Eaton in Pinckneyville.  He was a Veteran of the US Army.  He served during the Vietnam Era.  Dennis was a member of the New Life Church in Ava, and the BBK American Legion Post #480, Steeleville.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Selma Lou Zimmerman of Ava; children, Lori Zimmerman of College Station, TX and Dan (Christina) Zimmerman of Anna; step son, Jason (Angelynn) Hahs of Belleville; grandchildren, Jacob, Jace, Trey, Jesse, Kaitlyn, Amarianna and Kameron; brother, James (Julianna) Zimmerman of Anna; numerous aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his Parents; and two sisters, Lana Zimmerman and Kimberly Zimmerman.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 1:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava.  Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call on Wednesday from 6 pm until 8 pm, and on Thursday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.
