SPARTA - David M. St. James, 91, of Sparta, passed away at 6:10 AM, Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Sparta Community Hospital.

David was born on May 10, 1925, in Sparta, the son of Edward and Tillie (Brown) St. James. He married Carrie Madison on October 30, 1953, in Sparta, and they shared 63 years of marriage. David was in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a retired foreman from the World Color Press in Sparta. David was a member of the Church of God in Christ Jesus of all Nations, in Sparta.

David is survived by his wife; Carrie St. James, of Sparta, 4 children; David J. St. James, of Florissant , Missouri, Bonnie Dickerson, of Florissant, Missouri, Kathy St. James, of Sparta, and Juliane Cross, of Orlando, Florida. He is also survived by several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son; Warren Kenneth Horton, 1 daughter; Jazen Wallace, 1 grandson; Tommy Dickerson, 1 brother; Edward "Buddy" St. James, and 1 sister; Leata Montgomery.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday January 14, 2017 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sparta, with Rev. Joseph Edmonson, Jr. officiating, and burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning where friends may call from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the church. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville is entrusted with the arrangements.
