DUQUOIN – Rev. Dr. David P. Melvin, 36, of Peoria and formerly of DuQuoin, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at the Unity Point Health Methodist, in Peoria, Illinois

David was born on August 24, 1982, in Pinckneyville, the son of Paul and Sherry (Stowers) Melvin. He married Kendra R. McConachie, on July 26, 2003, in Sparta. David was the minister of the Mossville United Methodist Church, in Mossville, Illinois, and was the former pastor of the United Methodist church in Steeleville and Percy. Rev. Melvin was a member of the Mossville United Methodist Church, and the Society of Biblical Liturgy.

David is survived by his wife; Kendra R. Melvin, of Mossville, Illinois, children; Malachi, Josiah, and Eleanor, all at home. He is also survived by his mother; Sherry Melvin, of DuQuoin, brother; Brian Melvin, of DuQuoin, grandparents; John and Shirley Stowers, of Tamaroa, several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Melvin was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the United Methodist Church, Steeleville, with Rev. James Tinzmann officiating, burial will follow at the Union Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church where friends may call from 10 AM to 2:30 PM. Memorials may be made to a Love Fund for the Family. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville is assisting the family with arrangements.
