SPARTA – David Leming, 80, of Sparta, IL, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Chester Memorial Hospital, Chester, IL.

David was born on December 5, 1944, in Sparta, IL to Elmer J. and Viola (Montgomery) Leming. David married Elaine Blair on June 11, 1966, in Sparta, IL. He was a retired Farmer and from Peabody Coal, Baldwin, IL. David was a Veteran from the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta, IL, Knights of Columbus #6577, UMWA Loca #1820, VFW Post #2698, Sparta, American Trapshooting Association, and the Sparta Eagles Aries #3059. David enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Elaine Leming of Sparta, IL, his daughter, Christine (Kevin) Toben of Belleville, IL, his grandchildren: James Toben, Anna Toben, Mary Toben, John Toben; his brother, Richard (Barbara) Leming of Coulterville, IL, his sisters-in-law: Sue (Tom) Hodge of Sparta, IL and Connie Blair (Jim) of Sebastian, FL, his brother-in-law, Paul Blair of Robinsonville, MS, and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Sharon Leming and Tammi Leiner.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta, IL, with Father Iuvenis Iheme and Father Charles Anyanwu officiating. Burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL. Visitation will be Thursday evening, September 25, 2025, where friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, and then on 8:00 – 10:00 am, Friday morning at the church.
