STEELEVILLE – David Alan Ashley, 52, of Steeleville, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, Illinois.

David was born in Red Bud, Illinois, on December 29, 1968, the son of William D. and Betty R. Knop Ashley.  He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville.  He was active in and enjoyed the scouting program at the Human Service Center in Red Bud.  He attended special needs Sunday School and he was active in Special Olympics for several years.

David is survived by his mother, Betty R. Ashley of Steeleville; brother, Michael (Cindy) Ashley of The Villages, FL; sister, Susan (David) Kontz of Steeleville; foster Brother, Arlan Thies of Steeleville; two nieces, Laura and Melissa; nephew, Bruce Kontz; great niece, Kristina; great nephews, William and Jonah; in addition to many Family and Friends.

David was preceded in death by his Father.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 11, 2021, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, with Rev. Mark Harris officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10 am until 11 am.  Face masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed.  Memorials may be given to the Activity Fund at the ComWell Agency at Red Bud (formerly Human Service Center), St. Mark's Lutheran Church, or Randolph County Special Olympics.
