STEELEVILLE – Darlene B. Mayer, 92, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL.

Darlene was born on July 27, 1930, the daughter of Martin and Hilda (Weaver) Brockmeyer. She married Herman W. Mayer on January 26, 1952, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Wine Hill, in Steeleville, Illinois. He preceded her death on March 20, 2022. Darlene was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, and the BBK American Legion Auxiliary Post #480, Steeleville, IL. Darlene loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, camping, fishing, any outdoor activity, and spending time with her family.

Darlene is survived by her children: Brenda (John) Parker of Steeleville, IL, Deb Caby of Campbell Hill, IL, Ron (Lana) Mayer of Cape Girardeau, MO; her grandchildren: Alicia (Craig) Rednour, Aaron (Lindsey) Miesner, Bethany (Justin) Parker, Amanda (Ryan) Cleland, Scott (Brittany) Caby, Rachel (Tiglet) Besara, Jairus (Natasha) Mayer, John Parker Jr, Elizabeth Parker; her sixteen great grandchildren, her sister, Anita (George) Miller of Campbell Hill, IL, her three sisters-in-law: Delores Brockmeyer of Steeleville, IL, Carolyn Brockmeyer of Steeleville, IL, Erna May (George) Salger of Steeleville, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darlene was also preceded in death by her Parents, two sons-in-law: Jim Miesner and Randy Caby; siblings: Marlin, Rayburn, Verdell, Wilma, LaVerne, Bernadine and Ruby.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Mark Harriss officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Family and friends may call from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, Saturday, at the church.
