GOREVILLE – Danny R. Gerberding, 76, of Goreville, formerly of Steeleville, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Goreville, Illinois.

Danny was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, on December 21, 1947, the son of Omer and Pauline Ehlers Gerberding. He married Sharon L. Jaimet on April 18, 1970 at Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2011. Danny was an Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from World Color Press in Sparta and Chester Mental Health. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, BBK American Legions Post #480, Steeleville, and Lake of Egypt Country Club. Danny was well known as "Grandpa Dan". He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. Danny was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending sporting events. He did not miss a game or event his grandkids were involved in. Danny enjoyed trips to the beach with his family. He loved to talk with friends while enjoying a Miller Lite.

Danny is survived by his son, Darin (Amanda) Gerberding of Steeleville; his daughter, Alison (Greg Smith) Krack of Goreville; grandchildren, Isabel Krack, Grant Krack, Kate Krack and Chloe Kilpatrick; brother, Todd (Tammy) Gerberding of Steeleville; sister-in-law, Patty (Bob) Shute of Pinckneyville; brother-in-law, Steve Jaimet of Pinckneyville; and nieces and nephews, Kylie and Bobby Smith, Tiffany and Nels Morris, Torrey Gerberding and Elle Jaimet.

Danny is also preceded in death by Parents; son-in-law, Dale Krack; nephew, Raymond Jones; and sister-in-law, Kathy Jaimet.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, with Rev. Kenneth Tegtmeire officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call on Wednesday from 6 pm until 8 pm, then on Thursday from 7:30 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to Athletic Programs at Goreville High School.
