STEELEVILLE – D. Jean Kurwicki, 83, of Steeleville, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022, at Three Springs Lodge, Chester, Illinois.

Jean was born in Centralia, Illinois, on April 21, 1939, the daughter of Wilmer and Ida (Kraus) Meier.  She married Clarence L. Kurwicki on March 17, 1973, in New Athens, IL. Jean was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL. She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping and playing cards.

Jean is survived by her husband, Clarence L. Kurwicki of Steeleville, IL, children: Deborah Voelkel of Florissant, MO, Patricia Voelkel of Scottsdale, AZ, Steven (Lori) Voelkel of Troy, IL, Tanya Newby of Steeleville, IL; grandchildren: Jesse Roethemeyer, Haley Roethemeyer, Bristy Voelkel, Chase Newby, Cale Newby; brother, Robert (Phyllis) Meier of Nashville, IL, and special nephew, Brian (Jennifer) Kurwicki.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Lee Meier.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, with Chaplain Robert Meier officiating.  A private interment will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville.
