MARION - Cody Eugene Banks, 61, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday July 27, 2023 at 3:15 am at his sister's residence in Marion, Illinois.

Cody was saved and baptized over a year ago and fully giving his life to Jesus.

He was born May 6,1962 in Vallejo, California the son of Gale and Charlene (Lucas) Banks.

He married his former wife Rhonda Chamness Dec 12, 1982. They were blessed with two children Christopher and Jennifer both of Marion ,Il.

Over the years Cody was employed at Marion Unit 2 High School and most recently at Jones Hydroblast.

Throughout his life Cody enjoyed walking the creek beds, hunting ,fishing and collecting. He had a huge love for Indian artifacts and the like.  In his earlier years Cody was an avid coon hunter, dog trainer and trapper. He and his dog Tink won several awards including being featured in Coonhound Bloodlines magazine.

He is survived by his former spouse Rhonda Chamness Banks of Marion, Il, son Christopher Banks (Morgan) of Marion, Il, daughter Jennifer Jones of Marion, Il.; Granddaughters Kayla Banks and Emma Jones; sisters Gailene Holmes(Bob) of Harrisburg ,Il, Glenda Johnston(Danny) of Newburg,In, Tonnie Nordemeyer (Chris) of Marion,Il., brother Tim Banks (Terri) of Millistadt, Il,; his girlfriend Lisa Allen Claunch of Marion, il. and several nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Gale and Charlene Banks and his brother Cliff Banks.

Cody loved his family. He was loved and will be truly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
