STEELEVILLE - Clotilda J. "Sally" Hartmann, 93, of Steeleville, passed away at 12:21 pm, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester. Clotilda was born in Modoc, Illinois on September 28, 1919, the daughter of August Nienhaus and Bertha Moore Nienhaus. She married Roland Knott on November 26, 1938, he preceded her in death. She then married Joseph Desper in November of 1970, he also preceded her in death. Later she married Rufus Hartmann on September 8, 1974, he later preceded her in death also. Clotilda was a member of the St. Mary's Divine Maternity Catholic Church in Ellis Grove, IL and was a member of the sodality there. She was a retired cleaning shop operator, waitress and was also a homemaker. Clotilda is survived by one son, James Roger Knott of Steeleville; one grandson, Eric Brandon Knott of Phoenix, AZ; sisters-in-law, Teresa Nienhaus of Fair Haven, Michigan and Edna Nienhaus of Belleville; and several nieces and nephews. Clotilda was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Divine Maternity Catholic Church in Ellis Grove, IL with Father Ben Stern officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday and on Thursday from 7:30 am until 9 am. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Divine Maternity Catholic Church or to masses.
