STEELEVILLE – Claude P. Husband, Sr., 89, of Steeleville passed away at 11:10 AM, Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the Sparta Community Hospital.
Claude was born on October 15, 1928, in Percy, the son of Roy and Edith (Sieberg) Husband, was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran having served in WWII. He returned home and married Laura L. Reames on October 20, 1950, in Chester, and they shared nearly 68 years of marriage. He worked for many companies through the years as a mechanic, starting out at Lambert Airport in St. Louis, Missouri, Beldex in Perryville, Missouri, Bockhorn Motors, in Steeleville, John Deere Implement, in Percy, Scott Air Force Base, and having retired from REA in Steeleville. Claude attended the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Rockwood, and was a life member of the BBK American Legion Post #480, in Steeleville, and a member of the Air Force Museum, in Dayton, Ohio.
Claude is survived by his wife; Laura L. Husband, of Steeleville, children; Linda (Robert) Appel, of Steeleville, Edie (James) Ernsting, of Steeleville, Claude (Elaine) Husband, of Steeleville, Emma (Paul) Wolters, of Percy, 9 grandchildren; Sara Appel, Marc (Jaydee) Appel, Lance (Stephanie) Ernsting, Matt (Stephanie) Ernsting, Lori Beth (Jason) Helmers, Katie (Nathan) Schatte, Jessie (Adam) Henson, Melinda (Isaac) LaSalle, Rachel Wolters, 8 great grandchildren; Caitlyn Appel, Jacob Ernsting, Andrew Ernsting, Alexander Ernsting, Hazel Helmers, Caroline Helmers, Seth Schatte, and Kody Schatte.
Mr. Husband was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother; Roy A. Husband.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Rev. Cecil Dunning officiating, burial will follow in the Mt. Summit Cemetery, Rockwood. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Wednesday from 7:30 AM until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Summit Cemetery.
