Clarence H. Clasen, 87, of Steeleville, passed away at 4:32 pm, Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester. Clarence was born in Bremen, Illinois on July 12, 1927, the son of Henry and Alma Dieckenhoff Clasen. He married Alma Diercks on September 29, 1951 in Bremen, IL. She preceded him in death on January 25, 1989. He later married Judith Sue Lange on February 22, 1991 in Belleville, Illinois. Clarence was retired from Menard Correctional Center as Head Maintenance Foreman and was a retired Insurance Agent. He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville and IPA. He was former member of the Steeleville Fire Department, where he served for 25 years. He was also a former Insurance Agent and Board Member for the Randolph Mutual Insurance Company. He was associated with them for 42 years. Clarence is survived by his wife, Judy Clasen of Steeleville; two daughters, Phyllis (Doug) Hall of St. Louis, MO and Janice (Jim) Creighton of The Villages, FL; one son, Dale Clasen of Edwardsville, IL; one step daughter, Mindy (Wade) Duncan of West Frankfort, IL; one step son, Mike (Jackie) Chamness of Hurst, IL; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and one sister, Laverna Castens at the Coulterville Care Center. Clarence was also preceded in death by his Parents; and one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Clasen. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke and Rev. Peter Ill officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 7:30 am until Noon then from 1 pm until 2 pm at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or St. Mark's School Roof Fund.
