AVA – Cindy Ann Toutant, 62, of Ava, passed away at 12:49 PM, Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Cindy was born on February 26, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Wilbert J. and Anna M. (Buzzelli) Toutant. Cindy worked many different jobs including a warehouse worker, a beautician, and was the manager of Casey's in Murphysboro.  She helped out a lot of teenagers while she worked at Casey's.  Throughout her life, Cindy helped many people and rescued many animals.

Cindy is survived by her daughter; Sabrina (Austin Brown) Toutant, of Ava, son; Michael (Crystal Leanne) Szabo, of Glenside, Pennsylvania; stepchildren, Lynn (Donnie) Dirden, of Murphysboro and Shane (Casey) Stroud, of Murphysboro; significant other; Ervin Stroud, of Ava; granddaughter, Autumn Szabo; step-grandchildren, Jesse Dirden, Shannon and Cassie Stroud, Gatlin Stroud, and Colt and Caylie; Siblings, Donald Toutant of Ava, Ernie Toutant of Kewanee, IL, Jimmy Toutant of Manhattan, IL, Lee (Donna) Toutant of Montgomery, IL, Jose Echavarria of Oaklawn, IL, Leonard Adamec of Berwyn, IL.

Cindy was preceded in death by her Parents; sisters-in-law, Joann Pollard-Toutant and Gigi Toutant; Father-in-law, Helmer Dean Stroud; and Stepmother, Tilly Toutant.

Cindy's wishes were to be cremated.  There will be a Remembrance Party during Sabrina's wedding on October 31, 2020.  Memorials may be given to the family.
