AVA - Christopher "Chris" Joe Holder, 29, of Ava, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Christopher was born in Herrin, Illinois on December 15, 1984, the son of Joe Floyd Holder, Jr. and Verna Jane Craig. He was a construction worker for Eric Compton. Christopher is survived by his fiancée and mother of his children, Jami Colton; son, Dalton James Holder, 8; daughter, Baylee Jean Holder, 3; his mother, Verna Jane Craig of Steeleville; his father, Joe Floyd Holder, Jr. of Ava; sisters, Phailena Hope of Virginia, Michelle (Kevin) Allen of Ava, Danielle (Scott) Nicks of Carterville; brother, David (Sasha) Holder of Oraville, IL; father-in-law and mother-in-law, P.J. (Brenda) Colston of Coulterville, IL; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Christopher was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; mother-in-law, Barb Smith; and sister-in-law, Amy Karnes. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Adam Mach officiating. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. In honor of Christopher's love of the Denver Broncos, the family asks that anyone attending to please wear their favorite NFL jersey or casual clothing. Memorials may be given to a Love Fund for his Children.
