STEELEVILLE – Charles Henry Monroe,"Chuck",  62, of Jefferson, Colorado, and formerly of Steeleville, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at his home in Jefferson, Colorado.

Charles was born on July 26, 1955, in Long Beach, California, to son of William H. and Fern (Leathers) Monroe. Chuck was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War era. Mr. Monroe was a mining supervisor at the Croell Redi-Mix, Inc. in Buffalo, Wyoming, he has also worked at the Burning Star #4 in Pinckneyville. He was of the Lutheran faith, and a member of the UMWA, and Steeleville Eagles Aerie #3960.

Chuck is survived by his partner; Melanie Littlefield, of Jefferson, Colorado, 3 children; Kara Howell, of St. Marys, Ohio, Katie (Dane) Ashley, of Elko, Nevada, and Charles C. (Chelsea) Monroe, of Minot, North Dakota, 5 grandchildren; Melanie Howell, Ashley Howell, Emily Howell, Landen Ashley, and Kaylie Ashley. He is also survived by his mother; Fern Monroe, of Steeleville, brother; William Chris Monroe, of Steeleville, and 2 sisters; Cindy Monroe, of Steeleville, and Cheryl Lodge, of Steeleville and beloved Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, 1 sister; Cathy, and 1 brother-in-law; Ed Lodge.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Rev. Ron Coleman officiating, and burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Saturday from 7:30 until the hour of service.  Memorials may be made to the Colorectal Cancer Research, University of Cancer Center, Denver, Colorado.
