SPARTA, Charles E. Lindwedel, 77, of Sparta, passed away at 8:00 P.M. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Chester in Chester, IL. Charles was born August 12, 1932 in Blair, Illinois the son of Edwin Lindwedel and Catherine (Niemeyer) Lindwedel. Charles married Mary Alice Caudle on September 3, 1954 at Chester, IL. He was a US Army veteran during the Korean Conflict. Charles was retired from World Color Press. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh and the Disabled American Veteran. Charles is survived by his wife Mary A. Lindwedel of Sparta, IL; two children, Kenneth Lindwedel of Ava, IL and Catherine Chote of Tamaroa, IL; two granddaughters and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Anna Lindwedel and one sister, Marie Lindwedel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh. Rev. Harold H. Weber will be officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Walsh, IL. Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh, IL on Tuesday from 9 to 11 am. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
