STEELEVILLE – Charles P. Herring, 71, of Steeleville, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Independence Care, Perryville, MO.

Charles was born in Red Bud, IL, on October 19, 1951, the son of James C. and Alice (Farleigh) Herring. He married Donna Schwartzkopf on March 6, 1976, in Sparta, IL. Charles retired from Pinckneyville Hospital as Maintenance Director. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, and Breezy Hill RC Flying Club.

Surviving is his wife, Donna Herring of Steeleville, IL, his children: Abigail Herring of Steeleville, IL, Alicia (Troy) Markley of Steeleville, IL; his grandchildren, Ellie and Jack Markley, his brother, Kevin (Debbie) Herring of Chester, IL.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Claire Markley, one brother, James Herring.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Mark Harriss officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Sparta, IL. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home.
