Charles was a farm advisor in Coles, McLean, DeKalb, Wabash, Mercer, and Logan Counties before starting his own business, Engelhardt Agri-Services, in Lincoln, IL, developing agriculture software. After retiring, he sold items from Charley's Woodworking in Steeleville, IL.
