CARBONDALE – Charlene F. Lakenan, 55, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at her home in Carbondale, Illinois.

Charlene was born on October 12, 1970, in Murphysboro, IL, to John R. Jr and Helen Charlotte (Benson) Lakenan.

Charlene is survived by her son, Nicholas Lakenan (Taylor Klaus) of Carbondale, IL, her honorary son, Joseph Drescher, and her sister, Letitia Brooks of Ava, IL.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Clay.

Charlene’s wishes were for Cremation, and a Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, 11:00 am, at Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, IL.
