Obituary

STEELEVILLE – Catherine Johnson, 90, of Steeleville, passed away at 3:57 PM, Friday, May 12, 2017 at her daughter's home in Steeleville.

Catherine was born on January 12, 1927, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Nancy Jane (Lewis) Kamarit. She married Leonard F. Johnson, on May 2, 1946 in Olathe, Kansas, and they shared 71 years of marriage. Catherine was a homemaker, and a member of the Landmark Apostolic Church in Sparta. Catherine enjoyed attending prayer meetings with her friends, and shopping as one of her favorite pass times. For the last 6 years she has been under the tender care of her loving daughter.

Catherine is survived by her husband; Leonard Johnson, of Steeleville, one daughter; Leonarda (Dave) Harper, of Steeleville, 5 grandchildren; Sarah (Jamie) Nagel, of Campbell Hill, Candace Birdsong, of Chester, Amanda Johnson, of New York, New York, Brandena Johnson, of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Tera (Tony) Creamer, of Steeleville, 5 great grandchildren; Hailey Nagel, Taylor Creamer, Morgan Creamer, Otis Samb, and Noah Samb. She is also survived by 3 sisters; Evelyn Range, Jeanette Watson, and Jane Zmolek.

Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, 1 son; Frank, 1 sister; Frances Furfaro, and 1 brother; Burel Golf.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Doug Rice officiating, and burial will follow at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava. Visitation will be held on Tuesday where friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Landmark Apostolic Church.
