AVA – Carolyn Jean (Pulcher) Schult, 79, of Ava, passed away at 1:32 am, Monday, February 15, 2021, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Sparta, Illinois.

Carolyn Jean was born in Jackson County, Illinois, on May 13, 1941, the daughter of Cecil and Mabel Reiman Pulcher.  She married Robert L. Schult, Jr. on June 16, 1984, at East Carondelet, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on June 21, 2012.  She was a retired Postal Worker.  Jean was a member of the Ava Assembly of God Church.

Carolyn Jean is survived by her children, Roger (Tina) Phoenix of Chester, IL, Susan (Tom) Easton of Ava, and Bryan (Ruth) Phoenix of Ava; step children, Julie Reichert of Columbia, IL and Jeannie (Mike) Burkhalter of St. Louis, MO; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Vernon) Bogenpohl of Willisville, Lela (Dale) Riechert of Columbia, IL and Lorretta (Leroy) Shreiber of Missouri; and brother, Earl (Judy) Pulcher of Ava.

Carolyn Jean was also preceded in death by her Parents; son, Terry Phoenix; and sister, Bessie Pulcher.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 22, 2021, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Timothy Moats officiating.  Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9 am until 11 am.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 50 people are allowed in the funeral home at one time and social distancing and face mask guidelines will be followed.  Memorials may be given to St. Jude's.
