STEELEVILLE - Carl W. Salger, 86, of Steeleville, passed away at 1:35 pm, Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Coulterville Care Center in Coulterville, Illinois. Carl was born in Chester, Illinois on August 18, 1927, the son of Ernest and Vesta Jones Salger. He married Grace M. Studt on September 10, 1949 at Evansville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 7, 1990. He was a retired driver from Niederbrach Trucking, Steeleville. Carl was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville and U.M.W. of A Local #1392. Carl is survived by his children, Michael (Tamara) Salger of Steeleville, Darlene M. (Scott) Wittenborn of Ruma, IL, and Diane C. (David) Niemeyer of Steeleville; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Nola Hanebutt of Evansville, IL and Carolyn Fink of Ellis Grove, IL. Carl was also preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Monday and on Tuesday from 7:30 am until Noon then from 1 to 2 pm Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the March of Dimes of Hospice of Southern Illinois.
